Folk and Costume Museum
To the rear of the house, beyond the tea room, is the National Trust of Guernsey’s Folk and Costume Museum 6 [map] (www.nationaltrust.gg; Apr–Oct daily Mon–Sat 10am–5pm last entry 4.15pm, Sun 11am–3pm; charge). This excellent museum, within 18th-century farm buildings grouped around a cobbled courtyard, shows life on the island as it used to be around 100 years ago. The first part contains a series of reconstructed rooms showing a typical Guernsey farmhouse kitchen, and the town house parlour of a middle-class home with period costumes and furnishings. Upstairs a display on childhood includes a school room, complete with school benches.
